PiXL Edge at Hayfield

What is PiXL Edge?

The PiXL Edge is a framework to develop and accredit students with those personal attributes essential for employability and life. The scheme will focus on five key attributes:

  1. Leadership
  2. Organisation
  3. Initiative
  4. Resilience
  5. Communication

Students will demonstrate their skills in these 5 areas by completing a range of activities from an approved list, but will also be able to suggest ideas for new activities.  The activities are many and varied and can be undertaken in normal lessons, in extra-curricular clubs or outside of school.

At The Hayfield School we will offer PiXL Edge at 2 levels

Level 1: PiXL Apprentice (For Years 7-9)

Level 2: PiXL Graduate  (For Years 9-11)

All students in years 7 and 8 will start the Apprentice level in September 2017 and will have up to 2 years to complete all the activities required.  They will then be able to move on to the Graduate level in year 9 or 10.

Why have we introduced PiXL Edge at Hayfield?

The PiXL Edge scheme is intended, over time, to develop and accredit the life skills and attributes that employers are telling us they need – leadership, organisation, initiative, resilience and communication.  This will give students a qualification, which runs alongside their academic successes and recognises what they can do as well as what they know.

We believe that ‘The Edge’ provides a real opportunity for students at The Hayfield School to develop skills and attributes that will benefit them hugely both during their studies and also in the future as they apply to colleges, universities and for positions of employment.
